Mark McGwire Used Steroids

Well duh… Is there anyone out there that didn’t already know this?
Former home run slugger Mark McGwire confirmed what everybody already assumed, that he was juiced up on steroids during his baseball career. But, he failed to mention the human growth hormone he used, too.
McGwire, who retired from St. Louis Cardinals in 2001, made the admission in a statement to the Associated Press earlier today. Let’s face it, he pretty much had to before starting his new gig as hitting coach for the Cardinals. If he didn’t, questions about his past would have followed him from city to city during the season.
“Now that I have become the hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals, I have the chance to do something that I wish I was able to do five years ago.
I never knew when, but I always knew this day would come. It’s time for me to talk about the past and to confirm what people have suspected. I used steroids during my playing career and I apologize. I remember trying steroids very briefly in the 1989/1990 off season and then after I was injured in 1993, I used steroids again. I used them on occasion throughout the ’90s, including during the 1998 season.
I wish I had never touched steroids. It was foolish and it was a mistake. I truly apologize. Looking back, I wish I had never played during the steroid era.”
It still appears that Big Mac may have omitted an important detail. According to ESPN, McGwire also used HGH:
McGwire also used human growth hormone, a person close to McGwire said, speaking on condition of anonymity because McGwire didn’t include that detail in his statement.
The person close to McGwire said McGwire made the decision not to answer questions at that hearing on the advice of his lawyers.
McGwire will reportedly sit down with Bob Costas tonight on the MLB Network to start trying to rebuild his tarnished reputation. I wish him luck but it may a little too late for that.
